  3. Hey there, An interesting clip. I’m a keen blogger – and that’s how my book ended up being published, after I’d posted chapters online – but I still can’t quite embrace Twitter! Maybe one of these days. Also, well done indeed on engaging your politicans in the ME debate, great news. I couldn’t follow that thread so easily, it got so long… I was a little worried about the Lightning Process being mentioned, is that seen as viable treatment in Norway? NASIM

Hey Nasim! Well, I think this might actually be a revolution in communication through social media. I am still figuring out Twitter and how it might be handy to me, but just to look at all the interesting things that have come out of blogs the last few years!! I think it is amazing!

Other than that we are having open lines with the Department of Health and Care Services here in Norway, and are invited to attend a meeting with the Health Directorate (I think that is correct..hmm) later this fall. Anyway it means that some of our initiatives is sinking in, and it is taken seriously. We just have to keep informing, pushing, writing, blogging, twittering.. 😉

Now about the Lightning Process…puh, I’m almost afraid to start writing about this…(PLEASE people who read this, NO war in the comment field..)
It is not an official treatment in Norway, but I know that one hospital (with a specialised center for ME) is planning on researching the method.

From my viewpoint it is controversial here in Norway and subject to a great deal of debate. A lot of arguing goes on between those who have attended the course and those who have not, those who claim it has an effect and those who think it is mumbo-jumbo. I have met quite a few people who have tried it, with various results.
What I think is sad is that the popular press has given LP some uncritical attention and a few success-stories of people who have recovered from ME in three days etc. has been presented. Now this has led to some general attitude towards it that is not so helpful – for example people always saying «Oh, but I heard about this great treatment!!» etc., and even in the offices for welfare some bureacrats have picked up on this and is recommending it to people. Some doctors believe in it, other doesn’t, depends on who you meet and what they’ve heard.

And as for me I fail at their «Are you ready for LP»-test anyway because I’m a sceptic, so it’s not for me apparently 😉

  5. Ah, okay, from what you say about LP it is the same in UK, though personally I find it to be an absurd treatment for a neuro illness. But don’t want to start any wars in your comments, I was just curious about the state of things in Norway 🙂

  6. @nmj
Oh no, I didn’t think that YOU would start a war 😀
Just that some people reading here and there tend to become very upset if anyone is not positive towards their beloved method…

I think we are on the same page about LP.

  7. Hey again, I have no idea about stats on LP, sorry. (I just can’t take it seriously as a treatment for my illness.) One thing, just to advise you, when you blog about ME or a specific treatment etc, people do tend to get very upset. After so many yrs, I have realised that people with ME can be very territorial about symptoms or ‘cures’. *Their* symptoms are the worst, *their* cures are the real thing! I have even had a couple people email me that my novel did not address certain symptoms enough – heart symptoms, cognitive difficulties – therefore it failed… It is a minefield out there! NASIM

Hehe, ok. Good to know that others have experienced the same. I have actually removed posts or comments a couple of times because I don’t have the energy to take part in big arguments between fractions. No way. I’m not here to please everybody…
